Client Challenge
A British electronics kit supplier needed a custom metal housing for Raspberry Pi with requirements of precise fit (tolerance ±0.1mm), good heat dissipation, and anodized surface finish for corrosion resistance. They required a small-batch trial (500 sets) first, followed by mass production (10,000 sets/month) if qualified.
Our Solution
We selected 6061 aluminum alloy for its excellent thermal conductivity and machinability. Using CNC machining technology, we achieved high-precision dimensional control. We applied anodizing treatment (black/silver options) to the surface to enhance corrosion resistance and aesthetics. We completed the trial production within 2 weeks and optimized the machining process for mass production efficiency.

Project Outcome
The trial production products passed the client’s fit test with a 100% qualification rate. The metal housing improved the Raspberry Pi’s heat dissipation efficiency by 35%. Mass production was launched smoothly, with monthly delivery of 12,000 sets (exceeding the client’s demand). The product was highly recognized by DIY enthusiasts and educational institutions.
